Why is the wall project so important for the quality of the building?

The above-ground segment of the building is mainly constituted by the walls. Considering their exterior, not solely their thickness is of big relevance – backing for the roof construction, but also insulating features – reservation from changing weather circumstances and large heat losses.

This last characteristic is especially relevant in our climate zone.

A relevant duty in which architects must succeed is the choice of an excellent technical design for the external wall insulation. In many circumstances, economic short-sightedness triumphs and the compromise is made to apply single-layer wall technique without insulation. In the multiple-layer wall purposes are divided among two or indeed three components. One has solely (or primarily) structural purpose, the second has a essentially insulating purpose, and perhaps also another component of protective and decorative purpose. Thus, thermal insulation depends predominantly on the depth of the insulating material layer. Smaller or greater diameter of this layer does not change the structure of the wall (of the other layers) or the expense for its elevation. The modification in thermic insulation properties interests solely the price of warming layer and affects the cost of the entire structure to a small degree.

Determining the most economically effective diameter of the thermic insulation layer in consonance with the criterion of the shortest compensation period or the lowest costs of the long-term use cycle is supposed to be the starting place for the investor to make a decision on the selection of wall structure and diameter of the thermic insulating component.
